Argentine Government Prepares for Labor Reform Debate

Buenos Aires, December 8 (NA) – With the official call for an extraordinary session, the government is preparing to begin the legislative debate on the labor reform, which will be addressed during the summer months. According to information from the Argentine News agency from an important official source, the head of the La Libertad Avanza (LLA) bloc in the Senate, Patricia Bullrich, will be in charge of presiding over the Labor and Social Security Commission, which could be formed next Thursday, December 11. This will be an exception made to carry out the will of the Executive Branch to sanction the 'modernization' of the labor system that President Javier Milei speaks of.

The truth is that according to the calculations made at Balcarce 50, the votes for the approval of the reforms are fewer than those obtained for the 2026 Budget. 'The Budget is always easier to approve. Reforms are more ambitious and more lasting,' justified a violet legislator. For this task, the president instructed the Chief of Staff, Manuel Adorni, along with the Minister of the Interior, Diego Santilli, to try to convince the two dozen allied governors who signed the May Pact to support the package of projects that will be sent to Congress next week. Patricia Bullrich and the head of the Chamber of Deputies, Martín Menem, are also committed to the task, doing the same in both chambers.

'We are very well organized. We have to pass the labor reform and the Budget, that's what matters,' reaffirmed Bullrich in statements to Radio Rivadavia. With that objective in mind, the new senator plans to head the commission on December 11, a day after the extension begins, which runs until the 30th of the month, to start the debate that will accelerate the timeline to have the 'modernization' of labor in effect by March 1, the start of the ordinary sessions.

'Military regime,' an official was candid about the delimitation of roles.

The labor reform designed by the ministers Luis Caputo (Economy) and Federico Sturzenegger (Deregulation); the secretaries María Ibarzábal (Legal and Technical), Carlos Guberman (Treasury) and Julio Cordero (Labor); the presidential advisor, Santiago Caputo, and the executive director of ARCA, Juan Pazo, constitutes one of the main obsessions of the libertarian administration.

However, they are realistic about the deadlines. 'We are Soviets.' The main idea is to discuss and win the approval of the Upper House during the month of December, through which the project will enter, to concentrate efforts on securing the remaining approval in February.
